As part of the contract linking the Project for Empowerment through the Valorization of Agricultural and Rural Entrepreneurship, sensitive to Nutrition, Inclusive and Resilient to Climate Change (AVENIR) to its partners (federations) for the implementation of activities in 2025, the continuation of the collaboration in 2026 was conditional on the assessment of the results obtained.
It is in this perspective that a workshop to evaluate the 2025 partnership and plan activities for 2026 was held in Kikwit from February 11 to 12, 2026.
This workshop was conducted under the direction of the National Coordinator of the AVENIR Project, Mr. Justinien BACIRONGO BINYOMA, ensuring strategic coherence, institutional accountability and alignment of partners with the overall objectives of the project.
A framework for accountability and strategic alignment
Organized by the Project Management Unit (PMU), the workshop aimed to:
- Evaluate the achievements of partners up to the end of January 2026, based on numerical data;
- Identify the challenges encountered and capitalize on the lessons learned;
- Share the methodological guidelines for 2026;
- Align the technical and financial proposals with the validated PTBA 2026.
The AVENIR Project team, representatives of the national confederation CONAPAC, its provincial federations of Kongo Central (FOPAKO), Kwango (FEPPAKWA), Kwilu (FOPAKKM) and Mai-Ndombé (FOPAM), as well as RENAFER, participated in the work. Each partner was represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Secretary, as well as several facilitators.
Three structuring sequences
The discussions were structured around three key moments:
- Presentation of achievements 2025particularly in the areas of sustainable natural resource management, strengthening producer resilience, improving nutritional security, and promoting inclusive agricultural and rural entrepreneurship. The results were analyzed in light of the project's targets: sustainable management of 293,000 hectares, 63,000 producers strengthened, 50,000 households supported nutritionally, and 8,500 rural businesses supported.
- Presentation of the PTBA 2026, with a reminder of the priorities related to family farming, inclusive rural entrepreneurship and opening up territorial markets through economic infrastructure.
- Planning 2026,during which the partners developed their technical and financial proposals, integrating the requirements of strategic alignment, social inclusion, gender and climate resilience.
Consultation extended to include land issues
Following this workshop, a specific meeting was held on Friday, February 13, 2026 with the NGOs AMAR and APC, partners involved in the land tenure security component.
This meeting allowed for further discussions regarding:
- Secure and inclusive access to land;
- Supporting local communities in the processes of land recognition and management;
- The coordination of interventions with territorial planning and the sustainable management of natural resources.
A key step towards 2026
At the end of the work, an updated situation of the 2025 implementation was shared, the main challenges were identified and the strategic directions for 2026 were clarified.
This workshop was a decisive step in consolidating the partnership between the AVENIR Project and its umbrella organizations, in a logic of performance, accountability and sustainable impact for the benefit of producers in the provinces of Kongo Central, Kwango, Kwilu and Mai-Ndombé.
